Business Plan

The purpose of this project is to create a viable business plan for a good or service.  Once you have created a group of between three and six people you will work to build out the following components of a business plan
Executive Summary
  • Done last after complete analysis has been completed
Description of the venture
  • Why this product?
  • How your skills/interests as the entrepreneur line up with the needs of the business
  • What is the business all about?
  • What market need will your business will address?
Marketing Plan
  • What is your strategy? Cost leader? Innovator? Customer intimate?
  • What is your target market?
  • How large is this target market?
  • How will attract your target market to your business?
  • Who are your key competitors?
  • What type of market structure is your industry?
Finance Plan
  • Description of fixed and variable costs
  • Projections of the number of units you will sell on a monthly basis
  • Critical assumptions
  • Financing needs
  • Strategy for raising the funds
Management team
  • Description of key management skill set
  • What the senior management roles will be
  • Strategy for acquiring talent
Income statement with 2 years of projections
  • Justify assumptions clearly and concisely!!!!!
The write up should be no more than 8 pages (12 pt, Times New Roman) with appendices detailing the income statement, the key assumptions you have made, and any other attachments of your choosing.

EYE-OPENER OF THE WEEK: When you can recognize that someone is talking rot, you are an educated man. Lord Action KEY DATES: 1. On Monday, Feb. 25, we will debrief round 2. 2. On Thursday, Feb. 28, Glenn Weinstein will speak to us about the municipal bond market. 3. On Monday, March 4, we will have a quiz on the Wheelan chapter on special interests, Glenn Weinstein's talk and chapter 10 in Colander on The Aggregate Demand/Aggregate Supply Model. 4. On Wednesday, March 6, Steve Kaplan will talk to us about income inequality and CEO pay. The long period. The extra half hour in the long period will be devoted to group work for round 3 of the Capsim simulation. CLASS ONE: we will debrief round 2 and discuss chapter 7 in Wheelan on special interests.
